Bishop Canevin A Jesuit-inspired High School

Ring of Honor

Nominate a Candidate for the Bishop Canevin Ring of Honor!

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Ring of Honor. The deadline to submit a nomination is Saturday, October 19, 2019.

The Ring of Honor

Ring of Honor members are a distinguished group of men and women who are connected by a common thread: they all practice Bishop Canevin's mission of a "life anchored in faith, a life enriched by learning, and a life committed to serving others."

In addition, Ring of Honor members are those who provide effective leadership, display selflessness in service and have a deep concern for others. Most importantly, they exhibit in their own lives all that Bishop Canevin High School strives to instill in the lives of its students.

Deserving individuals can be nominated in one of the three categories:

  • Distinguished Alumni
  • Distinguished Educator
  • Distinguished Friend

Distinguished Award Criteria

Distinguished Alumni are recognized and honored for their significant accomplishments and outstanding achievements in his/her personal and/or professional life. Recipients should also exemplify in his/her life the core values of Bishop Canevin.

Distinguished Educators are recognized and honored for their dedication to the field of education and especially to Bishop Canevin students, have demonstrated their commitment to the entire Bishop Canevin community, and exemplify in his/her life the core values of Bishop Canevin. Recipients are those who have taught at Bishop Canevin a minimum of five years.

Distinguished Friends are recognized and honored for their commitment to Bishop Canevin and are those who dedicate themselves to fostering growth and excellence through volunteer efforts. Recipients should also exemplify in his/her life the core values of Bishop Canevin.

All nominations are reviewed and considered for the Ring of Honor by a Nomination Committee who then selects individuals deemed deserving of recognition and whose personal and/or professional lives demonstrate the values associated with Bishop Canevin High School. Award recipients will be notified immediately upon selection by mail, followed by phone call. Names of recipients will be made public after individual award recipients have agreed to accept the award.

The Ring of Honor induction will take place at Bishop Canevin's Annual Gala on April 6th, 2019. Recipients must be able to accept the award in person, excluding those being recognized posthumously. Candidates who are offered the award but are unable to accept it in the upcoming year will automatically be offered the award for the following year.

Please do not inform candidates that they are under consideration since only a limited number of recipients are chosen each year from among many worthy individuals. Names of those submitting nominations and all deliberations are kept confidential.
