2008 Alumna Receives Blake A. Jenkins Discovery Award

Brandee Feola, PhD, Bishop Canevin Class of 2008 and a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University, has been awarded the Blake A. Jenkins Discovery Award in support of basic and/or transitional research into bipolar disorder and related conditions with an emphasis on early detection, intervention and utilizing brain imaging. As one of two University recipients of the $50,000 grant, Brandee concentrates on the study of stress, a critical factor in the emergence of the first episode of psychosis (FEP). The Award will allow Brandee to systematically investigate if people in early stages of a psychotic illness have altered stress responses, as well as contribute to the development of her scientific career. Congratulations, Brandee!
