Here at Bishop Canevin we have our house system. In our house system, we have four unique houses: Kostka, Faber, Rahner, and Ricci, the defending Crusader Cup Champions. During our Days Away the students participate in a wide variety of activities in their houses rather than as classes.
In the past, each Day Away has had a theme. This year, there is one overall theme for our Days Away. The theme for this year is Cura Personalis, Latin for taking care of the entire person. When we think Cura Personalis we think about taking care of our mind, body, and spirit.
During the Day Away on Wednesday, October 4th, we started the day with a prayer service. We were honored to have Mr. Dan Stitt from the Jubilee Soup Kitchen, the charity that we are supporting this year, to talk about what they do and how the students are able to help in their mission. The houses then participated in a friendly competition of capture the flag for house points. To wrap up the day, the students enhanced their spirit with a mass with Father Brian Noel, the school Chaplain. As a part of the afternoon mass, Father Brian blessed the Class of 2019 class rings and medals for the Junior Ring Ceremony. At the conclusion of the mass, the Class of 2019 were presented their medals and class rings.
