Monday, May 6th was the final Day Away for the 2018-2019 school year! The students began the day with a campus beautification competition. Each house was assigned a spot in front of the school to clean up the garden areas and plant new flowers. While that took place, the seniors had a breakfast to celebrate their last full week of classes. The students then had the opportunity to attend four different presentations:
- Meghan Black, esq. discussed the dangers of social media and issues regarding it's use and the law.
- Andy Quinn joined us to talk about the history of Kennywood Park.
- Community of College of Allegheny County's Sharmyn Straughters discussed the issue of time management for students.
- Katya Slater from the Diocese of Pittsburgh's Catholic Charities talked about the true purpose of service and why we do service for others.
After the sessions, the spring student athletes were recognized for their accomplishments this season. All four of our teams are still competing and approaching the end of the regular season. The annual Powder Puff Football Game was up next. Congratulations to the seniors, the Class of 2019, for defeating the juniors in a tight game! The day concluded with the awarding of the Crusaders Cup. In the previous four years, only one house had not won the Cup. That has changed this year! Congratulations to Faber House for winning the Crusader Cup!
