Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to the Catholic community of Bishop Canevin High School. We are extremely proud of the young men and women who have chosen this high school. They are gifted students, dedicated leaders, talented athletes, and caring, moral individuals who contribute greatly to this school and their communities. Our exceptional administrators, teachers, staff, moderators, coaches, and parents work collectively to create an environment for our students that is anchored in faith, enriched by learning, and enhanced by service.
Our beautiful tree lined campus is safe and secluded, but only minutes from major Pittsburgh routes, making our school accessible to families from many surrounding communities. The beauty of the campus has recently been enhanced by the creation of "Triumph Gardens", a remodeled courtyard to compliment our beautiful chapel, refreshed landscaping at the entrance to the school, and the Madonna della Strada grotto. New windows in the gymnasium and the building have added a bright, modern atmosphere matching the upgrades to our locker rooms and fitness areas.
Our technology department continues to serve as an impressive model of support for academic study and learning enhanced by educational systems. Our new state-of-the-art chemistry lab provides an optimum learning environment for all levels and facets of chemistry. In the newly renovated library, students have access to improved technology and resources that will support the curriculum and individual academic pursuits. In our new academic center, teacher-directed peer assistance is available to all students. Every student in the freshmen class (2011 and 2012) received an iPad to place the best use of technology at their fingertips!
Accelerated learning classes allow students to advance academically through Honors level courses, complimented by College in High School and Advanced Placement classes. Freshmen may advance to sophomore level courses by completing established academic prerequisites.
Our school motto from Psalm 127 states: "Unless the Lord build the house, they who build it labor in vain."
As a Catholic school community, we continue to build a "house" that is founded on academic excellence, self-discipline, service to others and life-long learning. By choosing Bishop Canevin High School, you are entering into an exciting learning experience in which our "house" will become your "home".
We welcome applications from qualified students who will not only benefit from the richness and tradition of our educational opportunities, but will also contribute actively to the continued growth and strength of our school as we celebrate our fifty-fourth year of quality Catholic education.
I encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities we offer to become more familiar with the Catholic community at Bishop Canevin High School and our quality co-educational college preparatory curriculum. Please browse the additional pages of the admissions category to find more details about the process. I look forward to assisting you in the admissions process.
